Front page / Apple launch new IPHONE 6S

The phone keeps the exterior of its predecessor, but features all new internals and some nice new extras. Those include a new processor, updated cameras at the front and back, and a pressure sensitive 3D Touch display.

3D Touch
In addition to multitouch, the new iPhone 6s recognizes force. It works on the homescreen and gives you shortcuts on the stuff you do frequently. Pressing lightly on an email thread, gives you a preview of the message, for example.

A9 chipset
Debuting on the iPhone 6s is the Apple A9 chipset. It’s the company’s third generation 64-bit chipset and offers up to 90% faster console-class GPU as well as up to 70% faster CPU performance, according to the company. It also offers new transistor architecture, which Apple is yet to expand upon The M9 co-processor is also updated. However, we're yet to find out how it has been improved.

New 12MP iSight camera
The iPhone 6s features Apple's all new 12MP iSight camera. It features 50% more pixels as well as 50% more focus pixels.
The new 12MP camera can now shoot 4K video, too.

Interestingly, the front-facing camera is now 5MP and uses the LCD display as a true-tone flash. There's a special chip inside the iPhone 6s, which drives the display up to 3x brighter in order to provide the best possible lighting for your selfies.

2-nd generation TouchID
It's two times faster than the first generation TouchID, as per Phill Schiller.

Enhanced connectivity
The iPhone 6s ships with LTE Advanced as well as twice as fast Wi-Fi. The latter is probably thanks to MiMo antenna technology inside, but that hasn't been confirmed just yet.

Accessories
Apple also unveiled new accessories - a bunch of leather and silicone cases. There's also a new charging dock, which will be offered in the same four colors as the iPhone 6s.

Pricing
The Apple iPhone 6s will be priced just like the iPhone 6. In the US, the phone will cost $199 for the 16GB model with a two-year contract. The 64GB and 128GB ones will retail for $299 and $399, respectively.

Pre-orders start September 12, while sales commence on September 25. The phone will launch in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong and Japan.

Based on the language of the bill, you can bring any smartphone, new or old, to someone and have that person unlock it for you without infringing on the law. While you could already unlock your phone through your carrier, there were, and still are, many hoops you have to jump through.
           AT&T will let you unlock your device permanently, provided your contract has already expired. AT&T customers still on contract may unlock their devices up to five times per year (for international travel purposes), as long as they don’t owe any past-due amount on their accounts, and have been a customer for 60 days or more. You can see the full rules here or simply fill out the unlock request here.
Meanwhile, while some Verizon devices are sold unlocked, others are not. However, like AT&T, customers in good standing can request to have their devices unlocked for international travel. You can see the full rules here or call Verizon at 1-800-711-8300 and ask for a SIM unlock.
          Sprint will allow customers to unlock their devices for travel after three months with the carrier. You can also call 1-888-211-4727 to unlock your phone or join a Web chat to do so. Full rules are here.

The Xiaomi Mi Note measures 155 x 77.6 x 7mm and weighs about 161g. The device is curved at the back and actually appears even slimmer. The Xiaomi Mi Note is pretty much as big as the 5.7" Galaxy Note 4, but thinner and lighter.

GSM News / Sony Xperia Z5 at a glance

Sony's back, an entire Xperia Z5 family of smartphones ranging from the Xperia Z5 Compact for small pockets to the 5.5-inch Xperia Z5 Premium with the industry's first 4K display in a production smartphone. We get it, a launch of that magnitude couldn't wait until IFA actually kicked off and Sony scheduled their own dedicated event today.

Sony did need the good publicity only a truly new feature could bring and now they have it. The company has been an easy target for critics with its twice-a-year flagship update cycle. It's been the ideal mix of few improvements over the previous generation on the one hand and buyers, disappointed that their brand new device becomes last generation in only a few months, on the other.
            Sony hadn't had a proper high-end phablet since the Xperia Z Ultra more than two years ago, but it's hard to call the Z5 Premium a successor. Next to the monstrous 6.4-inch Z Ultra, the Z5 Premium looks dwarfish.

              It's not size Sony went for this time, it's resolution, and 2160p on a 5.5-inch diagonal is nothing short of astonishing. But why, you may ask, and you'd be right. Because we can, Sony would answer. We are, however, inclined to speculate that such a pixel density has some VR application planned for its near future.

Samsung / Samsung Galaxy Note 4 treated to Android 5.1.1,

The US carrier Sprint was the first to launch the update two weeks ago, but as of today the international model is getting the same treatment. The update is available over the air and via Kies.

The new Android build features performance improvements and security fixes, but there is no info if the Stagefright vulnerability was taken care of or not. If Samsung didn't have the time to patch the Stagefright exploit, hopefully it will do so via another update soon.

Poland is the first market to get the new 5.1.1 update, as it usually happens with the Samsung updates. In case you are impatient to get your hands on it, the official Poland ROMs are already available online (hit the source link below) and you can download and install the update via Odin.

Samsung Programs & Flashers / SAMSUNG GEAR S2 Classic Moniker

The US regulatory agency has certified both the Samsung SM-R720 and the SM-R732. According to past leaks and rumors, the former of those will be sold as the Gear S2, while the latter is due to get the Gear S2 Classic moniker.
The FCC process has revealed that both of these will come with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi built-in, but neither will also sport mobile data connectivity. That's apparently going to be reserved for a third variation of Samsung's first round smartwatch.
          Previous leaks have suggested that the Gear S2 will come with a 360x360 AMOLED touchscreen, an Exynos 3472 chipset, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, NFC, as well as a bunch of sensors including a heart rate monitor.
