Many social networks and even Google, the king of ads, have already banned cryptocurrency ads for various reasons. Michael Allison's article about Facebook banning the ads states the reason behind the ban as a deterrent of possible fraud and deception of users of their website.Twitter plans to ban some cryptocurrency ads on the website within the next 30 days. This comes soon after CEO Jack Dorsey stated in an interview he believes that Bitcoin will become the "single currency" of the world within the next 10 years.Twitter has confirmed to The Verge that the social network will ban ads that regard cryptocurrencies whether it be for cryptocurrency token sales or Initial Coin Offerings, a crowd-sale where startups will sell investors digital currency in exchange for funds to help back their cryptocurrency. The Twitter ban will also ban ads for cryptocurrency exchanges, a place where virtual currencies can be bought, sold and exchanged. Making one's smartphone unique is a thing desired by many as smartphones become more of a symbol of status. With the age of smartphones maturing, things like performance matter less and less for every day that goes by. Most smartphones feature an optimal level of performance for daily operation and gaming on smartphones is still a very niche thing due to the limitations of touchscreens, making the performance gains of more luxurious devices matter less that one would think. The desire to own a unique smartphone is a thing many demand as smartphones are definitely seen as status symbols in the modern age, just like cars were and are. Unique smartphone hardware which attracts looks from strangers and fine-tuned software which pops from the screen is all part of that.Making your smartphone unique is something tech-enthusiasts consider a must, while less informed people see it as a great addition, less as a focus. This does not mean that it cannot be done or that it's hard.Hardware...

Introducing the Facebook Container Extension.Facebook's come under a lot of fire for its mishandling of user data, and rightfully so. Not too long after the FTC announced it had an ongoing investigation into the social network, Firefox is now introducing an official extension that's been created with the sole intent of making it more difficult for Facebook to track your online presence. The Facebook Container Extension is available to use with Firefox now, and once it's installed, Facebook will be housed in its own "container" each time you visit it. You'll see blue lines around Facebook indicating that it's in a new container tab, but everything will still work as per usual. Here's where things get interesting, though. Upon installing the extension, it'll automatically delete any of your Facebook cookies and log you out of your account. Clicking on a non-Facebook link while browsing Facebook will open it in a regular tab, and clicking on Facebook Share links in regular tabs will...

Facebook messed up big time. The social media platform clearly misused its users' data, but have you taken action against the company? You've probably noticed Facebook in the news over the past weeks for all the wrong reasons. This certainly isn't the first time the social network has come under fire. The issue at hand this time is an app developer managed to obtain data of not only those who participated in a quiz but also the friends of participants and passed it to a company called Cambridge Analytica for marketing and political targetting.Read more at Windows Central......

Using an uncertified Android device? No Google Play apps for you.Google has started blocking installation of the Google Play app suite on uncertified devices. The Google Play App Suite includes Google apps like Gmail, the Google Play Store, and the Google Play Services framework that so many apps tie into for essential services like maps, notifications and payments.Devices from Chinese OEMs like Xiaomi and LeEco, when purchased from third-party traders often lack support for the Google Play Store due to Chinese policies. Users are often expected to manually download and install Gapps packages from the web, or elsewhere. Some, like Meizu, redirect users to a Google apps package download as part of the setup process despite not being certified by Google. Google has made a change to the Google apps setup process, blocking installations from devices which aren't certified by Google.Google will instead redirect users to a page, warning them that their device is uncertified and lett...

OnePlus 5T devices have been sold out in North America, and OnePlus has no intention of restocking them. Engadget got official word from OnePlus directly, who said that it "has sold every OnePlus 5T it made for the North American market, and well ahead of schedule to boot" with no plans to restock the device. If you're interested in a OnePlus 5T, you might be able to grab one on Amazon — but don't expect availability to last much longer, as it's been rapidly decreasing (and its price increasing)  There have been rumors of a OnePlus 6 to be coming up, and it seems more likely than ever now that the 5T is being phased out from the market. According to the Engadget conversation with the company, Kyle Kiang, the head of global marketing said for anyone looking to buy a OnePlus phone: wait until the release of the company's next flagship.  Why can't OnePlus just bring devices from other markets to fill the North American gap? The issue comes out too AC adapters, "swapping them out w...

Today was Apple's Special Event, it was focused on Education and making it easier and more affordable for educators and students to get good functional technology. There were many things talked about at the event, the main thing being the new iPad, which is cheaper and adds support for the Apple Pencil. Logitech was also present at the event, where they introduced some new accessories they had for the new iPads.  Logitech introduced a case and keyboard that works with the new iPad, but it's not like every other Bluetooth keyboard you can buy for any iPad. This keyboard uses a smart connector built into the case in order to connect to the iPad. The smart connector acts similarly to the one that is on the iPad Pro models. Unfortunately, Apple didn't include a smart connector on the new iPad, so Logitech took it into their own hands to create one for it.    The case was created using input from educators in order to create the best case they could for the education market. The case is n...

For a few years now, Intel has been providing a tool for getting the latest Linux drivers and firmware updates for its graphics chips. This was done due to the fact that it just takes some time for driver updates to the company's open source drivers to be integrated into the Linux kernel. The tool was useful for getting driver updates before they landed in the kernel, which was often necessary in order to properly make full use of the graphics chips' features and power. The latest version of the tool, 2.0.6, targeted Ubuntu 17.04 and Fedora 26, though other distributions could use the tool as well. However, according to Intel, kernel development processes have been improving, and users are now able to obtain access to the latest drivers much faster. For example, as Intel points out, Fedora 27 and Ubuntu 17.10 ship with the current drivers. Therefore, the company has decided to discontinue the Graphics Update Tool it was providing. Support forums for current users will still be avai...

REMAIN CALM, YOUR DATA IS TOTALLY SAFE.Facebook hasn't had the best week. The revelation by a whistleblower that the company has harvested the data of over 50 million users and allowed it to be used for microtargeting in the US elections, and the following back and forth between Cambridge Analytica and Facebook over whether or not this aligned with Facebook's privacy policies has done them some serious harm from a PR perspective. And to add insult to injury, the movement of users who have abandoned the site for good has dramatically risen (the hashtag #DeleteFacebook has been trending on Twitter for days in multiple territories). Even Elon Musk has deleted the Tesla and SpaceX Facebook pages. And it seems the tale is only getting worse for them – in the midst of the flurry of users deleting Facebook, multiple users have reported that the ZIP files containing all of their Facebook data, which is accessible to you when you delete your account, contains detailed call and messag...
