iPhone EDGE - 3G and FW 2.2 Jailbreak

Hi everybody! So far I took help from this great forum . I hope you'll enjoy these guides through the FW 2.2 JB

The iPhone Dev Team released the new softwares to unlock, activate and jailbreak the new 2.2 firmware. You can use QuickPwn 2.2 on iPhone EDGE, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 1G (not 2G).
Note:
They suggest to use QuickPwn for iPhone 3G factory unlocked. You should use PwnageTool 2.2 to jailbreak your iPhone 3G without a factory-unlock, to prevent the baseband update and the future unlocks

    * QuickPwn22.zip (Windows)
    * PwnageTool_2.2.dmg (Mac)



Create a Custom firmware 2.2 with PwnageTool 2.2 on Mac. Please read carefully:

Note 1: Use QuickPwn 2.2 to unlock iPhone 3G Italy (or any other factory unlocked device), iPhone EDGE and iPod Touch, and use PwnageTool only for iPhone 3G NOT factory unlocked. The reason is that 3G firmware 2.2 upgrade baseband too, and this could be a problem with future unlocking methods. Using PwnageTool we can install firmware 2.2 without upgrading baseband.
Note 2: DevTeam reported a little bug in PwnageTool 2.2, i.e. you can use only advanced mode and NOT quick mode in the building of customized FW. This bug is solved in 2.2.1 version but this guide is based on 2.2
Note 3: On new Alu MacBook/MacBook Pro and on Air, there's no way to go in DFU Mode. If your iPhone has an original 2.1 (or less) you'll can't go in DFU and you'll have to use a different Mac; if your iPhone has a Custom 2.1 FW, yhen you'll can go in DFU mode and you'll can upgrade to 2.2 without a problem.


What you need:

    * iTunes 8.0 or higher. All versions in iSpazio Downloads.
    * iPhone 3G original Firmware 2.2
    * Install and launch PwnageTool 2.2: Download from iSpazio server.


Guide:
1. Accept license



2. Click on second icon “Advanced” then select your device; next arrow.




3. Software will look for the original firmware 2.2 on your pc: if you have more than one pay attention to select the 2.2, next arrow.



4. Click on “Global” and start with custom:



5. "Activate Phone" and "Disable security partition" then next arrow.



6. This page is enabled only with iPhone EDGE so, next arrow.



7. In this page you can add a repository in Cydia so you can install all applications you prefer. Enter in “Manage Source” and add repository you want. Our is: http://cydia.ispazio.net, but you can find the others in our Sources web page. Enter now in “Download Package”, refresh and select all the app you want on your mobile, then click on Add To Queue; next arrow.



8. In the installer we can't add repository and so include custom packages into the firmware: continue with next arrow until you'll see the screen with your selection as above.

9. Deselect “Boot logo” and “Restore Logo”, if you want the original ones from Apple, or choose what you want clickin “Find”; next arrow.



10. Create! in red: choose a folder to save the custom firmware that will have a name like: 2.2_5G77_Custom.ipsw then “Save”



11. Process will take some minutes, then Mac will ask for the admin password.



A window will ask if your iPhone has never been Pwned: if not sure click NO



12. You will be prompted to go in DFU mode.



PwnageTool will detect iPhone in correct DFU mode and will ask to be closed and to restore the custom FW from iTunes.



15: Open iTunes that will ask to restore your iPhone:



16. Click OK then ALT + Restore in iTunes.


17. In the next window you'll have to choose the 2.2 custom FW. iTunes will verify it, and then restore on your iPhone.
