How to jailbreak iOS 6.1.6 untethered on iPhone 3GS and iPod touch   4th Generation using redsn0w (and the p0sixspwn untether package).

  • Download the IPSW (firmware file) for your device for iOS 6.0 (here's a convenient list of download links).
  • Open the latest version of redsn0w (Windows download | Mac download), click "Extras", click "Select IPSW", choose the iOS 6.0 IPSW you downloaded, and then click "Back" at the bottom of redsn0w.
  • Click "Jailbreak".
  • Make sure Cydia is selected.
  • Follow the instructions to put your device into DFU mode.
  • Wait for the jailbreak to finish.  Close redsn0w.
  • Reopen redsn0w, click "Extras", click "Select IPSW", and again choose the iOS 6.0 IPSW you downloaded.
  • Click "Just Boot".
  • Follow the instructions to put your device into DFU mode.
  • Wait for your device to boot up jailbroken.
  • Install  the "p0sixspwn" untether package from the Cydia/Telesphoreo  repository  (a default Cydia repository). (But if you have an old bootrom  3GS, you  can skip this step.)
If redsn0w gets stuck in the reboot  process, your antivirus software  is silently interfering with it. This  is a known issue. The only  antivirus product known not to interfere  with redsn0w is MSE (Microsoft  Security Essentials / Windows Defender).  Any others should be disabled,  or, if that doesn't work, uninstalled.

How to jailbreak iOS 6.1.3-6.1.5 untethered on all devices (except Apple TV 3) using p0sixspwn (Mac and Windows).

  • Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed (it includes drivers that help your computer communicate with your device).
  • Plug your device into your computer.
  • Open  iTunes, click your device (in the sidebar or at the top-right  if you  have the sidebar disabled) and choose "Back Up Now." If the  jailbreak  process fails, you can restore to this backup and try again.
  • If  your device is locked with a passcode, you must temporarily  disable it.  Open the Settings app, navigate to General and then Passcode  Lock.  Enter your passcode, then tap "Turn Passcode Off."
  • Your iTunes  backup password must also be disabled. In iTunes, click  your device and  then untick "Encrypt Local Backup." Enter your password,  then allow  iTunes to backup your device again. If this option is greyed out: On the device, open Settings, tap General, tap Profiles and remove all entries there.
  • Go to p0sixspwn.com and download the tool.
  • Click Jailbreak. This process will take a while, so give it a few minutes and try not to do anything that could interfere.
  • Follow the provided steps.
  • After  the jailbreak completes, Cydia will appear on your home  screen. Open  it and wait for it to download the latest package data from  its  repositories - you'll know it's done after "Reloading Data" shows  up  for a few seconds and disappears.
  • You can now install anything you want. Don't forget to enable device and backup passwords if you disabled them.
