A jailbreak of iOS 8.1.1 and iOS 8.2 beta has just been released by TaiG.

MuscleNerd confirmed the jailbreak over Twitter; however, he warns that  you should probably wait a couple days before attempting.

Looks like TaiG just released a jailbreak for 8.1.1 (and 8.0,8.1,8.2beta). Best to wait a few days just in case

TaiG was part of the controversial iOS 7 jailbreak from the Evad3rs. The  jaibreak included the TaiG 'app store' for cracked apps by default in  China. Following an outcry from the community the evad3rs responded by  updating their jailbreak tool to remove TaiG. They also posted a letter  to the community saying "we are deeply sorry and embarrassed about the  piracy that was seen today".

It's unclear what comes bundled with the TaiG jailbreak that has just  been released. We are looking into it and will update this article  shortly. It's also unclear as to who is actually behind the exploits  used for the jailbreak.

If the jailbreak proves legitimate and safe, we will be posting tutorials shortly!

Update:
It appears as though the jailbreak is only for Windows at this time.

These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 6 Plus, 6, 5s, 5c, 5, 4s on iOS 8.0 - 8.1.1 using TaiG for Windows...

If  you aren't already at iOS 8.1.1 we  suggest upgrading to the latest  firmware using iTunes. You can find  download links for iOS 8.1.1 here.  We've also posted instructions on  how to update the firmware of your  iPhone. Please note that you must  update using iTunes rather than  Software Update. If you used Software  Update you should do a backup then  restore to iOS 8.1.1 using iTunes.

 Step One

Create  an iClarified folder on your desktop and download the  latest version of  TaiG into the folder. If your download is a zip file  then extract the  archive into the same folder.

 Step Two

Tap Settings from your Springboard then select Touch ID & Passcode. Turn Passcode Off if it is enabled.

 Step Three

Press  the Settings button at the top left to return to the  Settings menu.  Choose iCloud from the Settings menu then select Find My  iPhone from the  iCloud menu. Ensure the Find My iPhone switch is the  Off position

 Step Four

Connect  your iPhone to the computer via a USB cable, launch  iTunes, and perform  a manual backup. It is very important that you  remember to backup your  device before continuing as you could lose your  data if the jailbreak  process does not complete successfully.
 Step Five

Double click the TaiGJBreak executable from the iClarified folder on your desktop to launch the application.
 Step Six

You  will notice the device is detected by the software.  Uncheck the bottom  checkbox to prevent the TaiG App Store from being  installed then click  the large Green button to begin your jailbreak.

 Step Seven

The TaiG app will now begin the jailbreak process.

 Step Eight
Once the jailbreak has completed successfully, you will be shown a green   smilie face, your iPhone will reboot and a Cydia app will appear on   your Springboard. Congratulations, you're now jailbroken!

A jailbreak of iOS 8.1.1 and iOS 8.2 beta has just been released by TaiG.

The TaiG team has made an official announcement regarding the TaiG jailbreak of iOS 8.1.1, recently released to the public.

In the announcement, the team reveals that one single developer was responsible for the jailbreak. In addition, TaiG reveals that their jailbreak does support iOS 8.2 but that support has been disabled in the public release as iOS 8.2 is still in beta. Finally, the team says they decided to release because Apple typically releases a firmware version around Thanksgiving and doesn't release another until around the first quarter of the following year.

Notably, TaiG also invites Pangu to work with them.

Here's the full translated announcement via reddit:

-----
TaiGJBreak Announcement

So far, TaiGJBreak (supporting iOS8.0-8.1.1) has gained popularity and consent among worldwide jailbreakers for its simplicity, security and transparency. A lot of media, senior JB developers and fellow developers have expressed their congratulations, TaiG hereby thank all of them.

Due to complexity of JB, we notice there are some doubts in media reports, e.g. does TaiG support iOS 8.2 beta? what's TaiG's consideration to release it for 8.1.1? We would like to make some clarifications for these questions:

1. In fact, support of iOS 8.2 has been completed by TaiG, as 8.2 is still at beta stage, we have disabled support for 8.2 in current public release.

2. Releasing a stable iOS version around Thanksgiving, and maintain it until the first quarter of next year, has been usual practice of Apple, which means 8.1.1 will be around for quite some time, and it is a relatively stable firmware. These are the main reasons that TaiG chose to release JB for 8.1.1. In addition, signing of 8.1 is closed earlier today, thus it could be a good time to update to 8.1.1 and jailbreak.

3. 2 above is also in responding to the concern that TaiG may expose exploits too early. Postponing release will not bring more benefits for users, that will just increase influence on attention from the hunger desire of users.

4. In our team we have the 3rd (probably the 1st) developer in the world who has accomplished JB individually. We will try to give you surprises in every subsequent iOS public release, and we are very confident about that.

5. Of course jailbreaking is a hard and complex work, relying on 1 person or a single team will not make it last long. Luckily we have some fellows domestically, if we can cooperate, it will bring more benefits for all users. Thus we sincerely invite PanGu Team for a face-to-face communication, to find a way of cooperation for providing faster and better jailbreak service together.

6. Thanks again for everyone's attention on TaiG. Thanks to thousands of enthusiastic users for providing bug feedback and suggestions, we will be fixing these in our next release soon.
