Moment has announced its intentions to venture into the world of smartphone filmmaking with their launch of a series of new products. The company, best known for their acclaimed smartphone photography lenses, made the announcement of the launch of these new products on Tuesday via Kickstarter. The lineup most notably includes a $149 anamorphic smartphone lens, which will allow users to capture video footage from their smartphones in the iconic 2.40:1 aspect ratio. This lens also produces the iconic horizontal lens flare look of blockbuster movie fame. Moment accomplishes this using a 1.33x lens, which Moment describes as being "like shooting a wider focal length in the horizontal direction and a longer focal length in the vertical", allowing for the shallow depth of field of a telephoto lens, but with a wide-angle image.
